Watch: Jamie Vardy blows injured referee's whistle to halt play during Leicester's 2-0 victory over Southampton

Minutes after scoring his 199th goal for Leicester City, Jamie Vardy blew David Webb’s whistle to halt Southampton’s attack after the referee was left clutching his face on the ground following a collision with Jordan Ayew.

Veteran Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy briefly filled in for referee David Webb after the latter was accidentally shoulder-barged by his teammate Jordan Ayew during Saturday’s home game against Southampton at the King Power Stadium, which they ended up winning 2-0. Vardy, who had scored the opening goal for the Foxes minutes before the incident, blew the referee’s whistle to halt the Saints’ attack with Webb clutching his face while lying on the ground.

“I saw Southampton breaking down the left and with the ref down I thought I’ll blow his whistle to stop the game,” Vardy told BBC on Saturday.
