United and Spurs currently are ranked 16th and 17th respectively in the Premier League, meaning both teams will be fighting for European survival a few hours from now in addition to their quest of finishing the season with at least one trophy.
Ruben Amorim’s ‘Red Devils’ thrashed Athletic Bilbao – whose home ground they will be facing Spurs in the final at on Wednesday – by a 7-1 aggregate in the semi-finals earlier this month, collecting a 3-0 victory in their opponents’ backyard on 2 May before romping to a 4-1 victory at Old Trafford a week later.
Tottenham, on the other hand, progressed to their second European final in six years with a 5-1 aggreggate victory over Bodø/Glimt, the team that became the first Norwegian club to reach the semi-finals of a European competition. Ange Postecoglou’s side win 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before storming into the final with a 2-0 victory at the Aspmyra Stadion in Bodø.
