Reigning world champion D Gukesh remains winless after four rounds in the tournament in which he had entered as the top seed and an overwhelming favourite, having played out a draw in each of the first three rounds before losing to Maxime Vachier-Lagrave on Saturday.

Reigning Classical world champion D Gukesh suffered a stunning fourth-round loss against French Grandmaster Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in the Superbet Classic tournament in Bucharest, Romania on Saturday. The world No 3, who is the top seed as well as overwhelming favourite in the US$ 350000 prize money tournament, is yet to collect a victory with five rounds remaining, having collected three draws before his defeat against Vachier-Lagrave.

On a day when R Praggnanandhaa played out a draw with local hopeful Deac Bogdan-Daniel, Levon Aronian of United States was the only other winner scoring his first win at the expense of Duda Jan Krzysztof of Poland.
