Michael van Gerwen gets stern reality check as Littler and Humphries embarrass him
Michael van Gerwen has “lost that fear factor” according to former World Grand Prix and World Matchplay champion Colin Lloyd. The Dutchman is facing a shoot-out with Nathan Aspinall for the fourth and final spot in the Premier League Darts play-offs, having failed to close the gap to Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price.
Humphries and Price booked their places alongside Littler with quarter-final wins last time out in Leeds. Van Gerwen and Aspinall, currently fourth and fifth, are separated by one point with two more nights remaining. They do meet in Aberdeen on Thursday in what could be a winner-takes-all affair.
