Max Verstappen in line for shock link-up as leading candidate for Red Bull top job emerges

One of Max Verstappen’s former rivals could be bossing him around at Red Bull in the not-too-distant future, according to Helmut Marko. The elderly Austrian appears to be nearing the end of his time in Formula One, having recently celebrated his 82nd birthday. He faces an uncertain future at Red Bull and has openly acknowledged that he will not be in the paddock for much longer.
Marko currently heads up Red Bull’s driver programme and is one of the key figures overseeing Verstappen’s career. Given the importance of his role within the team, his eventual replacement will need to be a candidate of outstanding quality. It has been suggested that a familiar face could be drafted in to succeed Marko when he finally steps back from the job.
