Man Utd ‘cancel major event’ ahead of Europa League final after abysmal season

Manchester United have reportedly cancelled their annual awards evening after a dreadful season. The bash is usually hosted at Old Trafford with several prizes, including the club’s Player of the Year trophy, handed out to players.

However, club officials are said to have changed their plans, in part due to the Red Devils’ disastrous campaign. Ruben Amorim has won only six of his 26 league games since replacing Erik ten Hag in November. His side are a dismal 16th in the Premier League and only Tottenham separate them from the bottom three. A run to the Europa League final, incidentally in which their opponents are Spurs, has provided a small respite from another terrible term.
