Luka Modric: Legendary Real Madrid midfielder confirms departure after decade of European dominance
Luka Modric has confirmed that he will leave Real Madrid when his contract expires after the Club World Cup.
The Croatia international’s departure marks the end of an era in Spanish football. He moved to Madrid from Tottenham in 2012, winning a remarkable 28 trophies in his 13-year stay at the Bernabeu, including six Champions League and four La Liga titles. He was no stranger to individual honours, either, winning the Ballon d’Or in 2018.
The 39-year-old confirmed his decision in a heartfelt letter to the club’s supporters.
