Arne Slot insists he did not hear Chelsea fans booing the guard of honour given to his Liverpool players as he hinted at potential new signings for the champions this summer.

Chelsea abided by established Premier League tradition at Stamford Bridge as their players lined up to applaud their Reds counterparts as they came out of the tunnel ahead of Sunday’s game, with the visitors having wrapped up the title with four games to spare by coming from behind to thrash Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield last weekend.

“I didn’t hear it, to be honest,” he said of the boos. “I only heard our fans during almost the whole game. I just heard that they couldn’t come here on trains, so they had to go by car. But they were on time and they were loud throughout the whole game. I haven’t heard anyone booing – I only heard our fans singing.”
