Jack Draper battles back from leggy start to beat feisty Corentin Moutet

Jack Draper will face Carlos Alcaraz in the Italian Open quarter-finals after coming from behind to beat Corentin Moutet 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 in Rome.

The British No1 was slow to get into his rhythm in the first set, which he lost handily, but came back with gritty wins in the remaining pair as he improved on an already impressive clay season. Draper is chasing a second career title after winning Indian Wells earlier this year, also looking for redemption on dirt after falling short in the Madrid Open final.

Draper fell to a brutal defeat in the first set, suffering two breaks and threatening to lose his head before dragging himself back into contention in the second. He converted a late lead after an extended video review in which Moutet was adamant as he aimed to convince the umpire of a narrow double bounce.
