Gary Linker to quit the BBC on Monday ahead of World Cup

Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker is expected to announce he has quit the BBC on Monday (May 19) and will not front its coverage of the 2026 World Cup.

The former England striker, who played for Leicester City, Everton, Tottenham and Barcelona during his football career announced last November he was stepping down as host of Match of the Day (MOTD) at the end of the season.
