F1 LIVE: Max Verstappen handed Ferrari seat after star hired security over safety concerns

Oscar Piastri will be enjoying his weekend off after moving 16 points clear of his McLaren team-mate Lando Norris at the top of the F1 Drivers’ Championship standings seven days ago. The two men blew their rivals away at the Miami Grand Prix, with Piastri crossing the chequered flag in first position ahead of the Briton.

Reigning champion Max Verstappen has been forced to dig deep to avoid getting cut adrift of the two McLaren stars. Red Bull have been unable to match the pace of the McLaren car, with Ferrari and Mercedes also falling short of the leading team. Verstappen in 32 points behind Piastri in the standings but has managed to keep himself in contention by bagging three podium finishes, including victory in Japan at the start of April.
