Emma Raducanu overtaken by Naomi Osaka as another Brit threatens status

Naomi Osaka has officially overtaken Emma Raducanu in the WTA rankings after dropping down to WTA 125 level and winning the L’Open 35 de Saint-Malo in France. The four-time Grand Slam champion took action after losing early in Madrid, taking a wildcard into the Challenger event and walking away as the champion.

Raducanu didn’t make any progress this week, staying at No. 49 in the world. But fellow Brit Sonay Kartal is now closing in on her status as the second-ranked Brit, as she reached a new career-high and is less than 100 points behind Raducanu.
